Number of pages: 23This booklet and the accompanying recording are designed to help students learn to pronounce Sanskrit terms found in theosophical literature. They should enable speakers of English to pronounce Sanskrit words so that they are recognizable to Indian scholars. Both booklet and recording contain four parts. Part 1 (Pronunciation Guide) is a set of instructions for pronouncing Sanskrit words. Part 2 (Sanskrit Terms) is an alphabetical list of Sanskrit words often found in theosophical texts, with brief defnitions. Students can use this list to practice pronunciation, using the recording to correct themselves. Part 3 (Summary) is a two­page pronunciation list of the Sanskrit letters. Part 4 (Sample) is a two­page sample of Sanskrit verse in Devanāgarī, romanization, and English translation. Words contained in square brackets in the printed booklet are not recorded.
