Kondo Víctor. A Tagmemic Description of Guahibo (Sentence to Morpheme)
Instituto Lingüístico de Verano/Ministerio de Gobierno, 1975. — 141 p.
The Guahibo language belongs to the Guahiban language family. It is spoken by approximately 15,000 to 20,000 Guahibos who live in the Eastern Llanos of Colombia between the Meta and Guaviare Rivers, and in Venezuela, The Guahibos are semiacculturated, though some are monolingual, They live widely scattered over a large area, in fairly permanent villages of from one to twenty houses, They prefer to build their houses in the plains, not far from the jungle where they have their fields, Some, however, live in cleared patches of jungle. They plant a wide variety of crops, the most important of which is the bitter yuca.
This description presents the grammatical structure of the Guahibo language using the tagmemic model. The format followed in this presentation follows very closely that used in Gramaticas Estructurales de Lenguas Bolivianas (ed, Esther Matteson) (1965: Instituto Linguistico dé Verano, Riberalta, Bolivia), The introduction to that publication explains the symbolism used in this grammar.
