They are an important part of the written heritage of the Turkic world, providing us with valuable linguistic and historic information. Taken together, these inscriptions constitute a large corpus of several hundred inscriptions. However, there have never been systematic activities aimed at documenting the Altai corpus as a whole until very recently.
