Indogermanische Forschungen. — 2012. — Vol. 117. — 1-14 p.Abstract: Formally superior alternatives are suggested to a recent new attempt to etymologize Lat. radius on the basis that the original meaning is connected with ‘radiance’ and ‘light’ and an amended formal solution is proposed for the criticized etymology itself now based on acceptance of a hitherto neglected extension of u-umlaut in West Saxon.
