Vasilenko E., Lamm E. Learning To Read Russian
Russky Yazyk, 1986. — 437 p.
Learning to Read Russian is a self-study text, accompanied by pronunciation records. It is intended to enable the user purely to learn to read Russian texts and makes no attempt to help the user speak or write Russian to any extent. It is ideal for anyone who simply needs or wants to read texts written in the Russian Language, whether students, professionals or casual readers.
There are 40 lessons, grouped into 7 units and a Russian-English vocabulary, which contains all the words occurring in the course. Although the focus is reading, it is helpful to understand how Russian words are pronounced, and this is achieved in Unit 1, along with learning the Cyrillic alphabet. The rest of the book works through Russian grammar illustrated, in the accompanying texts.
