This is the third of a set of five (actually, seven) volumes bringing together the result of recent work on the lexicon of Proto Oceanic (POc) language. Volume 3 deals with flora, As for fauna (originally meant to be treated together with flora) see volume 4. In the present volume Chapter 2 is an introduction to the volume discussing plant classifications and plant names, Chapter 3 reconstructs major categories of POc ethnobotanical classification, Chapter 4 deals with POc terms for the parts of trees and other plants. Chapters 5-8 present reconstructed names for wild trees and plants of the bush. Chapters 9-12 present reconstructed names for cultivated food plants.
