Sawyer Jesse (ed.). Studies in American Indian Languages
Berkeley; Los Angeles; London: University of California Press, 1973. — 317 p. — (University of California Publications in Linguistics 65). — ISBN: 0-520-02525-3.
William F. Shipley originally planned the collection of the papers which follow. However he felt obliged to relinquish the project because of being away from California during the latter months of 1968 and most of 1969. Intended to comprise a group of sketches of American Indian and other languages, the size of the collection became such that a group of papers on Asian subjects were separated out and published in 1970 as volume 90:1 of the Journal of the American Oriental Society.
The papers here presented have as their theme the varied interests and problem s which characterize the field of North American Indian linguistics. They are offered as a contribution to the now extensive literature in that subject.
