Ikegami Jirô. Uilta oral literature: a collection of texts
Kyoto: Nakanishi Printing Co., Ltd., 2002. — vi, 149 p. Publications on Tungus languages and cultures

The present Uilta texts were collected by the present writer in Hokkaido from three Uiltas. Mr. Kitagawa Gorô, Mrs. Sato Chiyo (Napka) and Mrs. Nakagawa Kayo, who speak both Uilta and Japanese. These two Uilta women were both born about 1910 in southern Sakhalin and immigrated to Hokkaido in 1947. Mr. Kitagawa was born about 1897 in southern Sakhalin and immigrated to Hokkaido in 1958. They passed away, Mr. Kitagawa and Mrs. Nakagawa in 1978 and Mrs. Sato in 1985. The present writer recorded these texts on magnetic tape in 1955 -1958 and 1966, and presents them here with the Japanese verbatim translation. In Uilta a word-final phoneme, especially i, or word-finals which exist in a word said by itself are often dropped when the word is said together with other words, especially in fast speech before another word. The following are examples from the present texts.
